I get asked this question from time to time, so I thought I’d share some tips and resources for junior and intermediate designers looking to level up. Full disclosure: this isn’t a quick fix and will take consistent effort. Around 30 minutes a day should do it. Let’s get into it.
A low-cost and genuinely effective way to grow your UX/UI skills and fill in gaps in your knowledge. Online and self-paced, with a strong focus on the fundamentals: UX management, user research, design thinking, usability and more. You can also earn industry-recognised certificates to help advance your career.

Sign up for free to receive a daily design challenge straight to your inbox. It’s a great way to sharpen your UI skills across layout, grids, colour, typography and user flows, and it builds the speed and confidence to execute ideas quickly.

With so many free and low-cost platforms available, there’s no excuse not to share your work. Post to Dribbble, Instagram or your own website. It’s a great way to demonstrate your skills, explain your design thinking and build an audience over time.

If this sounds like the way you like to work, get in contact to tell me a little about yourself and your project and I'd be happy to help. Send me an email at hello@richmcnabb.com.
