Self-initiated: Rich McNabb font
A free geometric vector font inspired by Herbert Bayer’s 1925 universal typeface, designed to build vector skills, grow my portfolio and give something back to the design community.

Rich McNabb free font download
I wanted to build on Herbert Bayer’s 1925 experimental universal typeface and create a simple geometric vector font, making it publicly available as a free download. This had three goals: becoming more proficient with vector software like Sketch and Illustrator, building out my design portfolio, and giving something back to the design community.

Font with alternatives
The idea was to start with a basic alphabet and build out the font over time by adding numerals and symbols. As a starting point though, I’m pretty happy with where it’s heading.

Alternative letters
Experimenting with some simple typographic alternatives for some of the letters to help provide a more complete font and to give people with greater flexibility and options.

Lowercase g
I was happy with how the font was progressing and especially pleased with how the lowercase “g” turned out. The original version lacked personality so I pushed further and experimented with different concepts and treatments.

Available for download for personal and commercial use. When I started this project I wanted to learn more about vectors and typography — designing a custom font seemed like the perfect fit and a great way to give something back to the design community.
